Redemption Muay Thai was founded by Steven Lee and Darian Carrington in 2007. Muay Thai is specifically designed to promote the level of fitness and toughness required for ring competition. Like most competitive full contact fighting sports, Muay Thai has a heavy focus on body conditioning. It's a proven art in Mixed Martial Arts competitions and a style studied by almost every serious Mixed Martial Art competitor. Muay Thai has become extremely popular outside of Thailand. It has become one of the most premiere striking arts in the world, and in Thailand, it's the sport of kings. This 1000 year old martial arts system is an art world-renowned for its simplicity and effectiveness. Eventually, the previously bare-fisted fighters started wearing lengths of hemp rope around their hands and forearms. It was even used as entertainment for kings. These muay contests gradually became an integral part of local festivals and celebrations, especially those held at temples. As well as being a practical fighting technique for use in actual warfare, muay became a sport in which the opponents fought in front of spectators who went to watch for entertainment. Muay Thai, was originally called to muay or simply muay. Muay Thai is referred to as the "Art of Eight Limbs" or the "Science Of Eight Limbs" because it makes use of punches, kicks, elbows and knee strikes, thus using eight "points of contact", as opposed to "two points" (fists) in Western boxing and "four points" (hands and feet) used in sport-oriented martial arts.
